TRUE INSPIRATIONS

Many long years ago in a small kingdom far, far away there lived a young princess named Deondra, but she was not your ordinary princess. This princess kept a deep, dark secret.  When Princess Deondra was born an evil curse was placed upon her by the meanest, evilest witch in the kingdom, causing her appearance to change by day and by night. Although the curse was not to be revealed until she turned 21.  Her parents didn’t keep her from living a normal princess childhood life. She attended school at the Academy of Magic for young royalty. So by the time she turned 21 she knew how to practice magic very well. Then on Princess Deondra’s 21st birthday her secret was revealed; and she had to start looking for a prince to marry her for who she was both day and night. That was the only way the spell could be broken. If she did not find this prince to marry her by her 25th birthday the spell could never be broken.

The princess had kept this deep, dark secret all of her life. Starting on her 21st birthday, by day she was a beautiful maiden. With long black flowing hair and captivating hazel eyes, she had skin as soft as a rose petal and the color of caramel. Her smile was so beautiful it would put you in a trance. Her heart was as big as a mountain and she had the personality of an angel. She loved to sing; her voice was so enchanting that all the birds would sing with her. However, by night she turned into an ugly old troll, with warts all over her face and her skin as rough as nails and the color of a charcoal gray.

After Princess Deondra turned 21 she searched and searched to find the perfect prince that would accept her for who she was both day and night, but time and time again she failed. Each time she thought she had found the perfect prince and decided to reveal her secret; the prince would run away saying, “I cannot love such an ugly beast.” By this time Princess Deondra was now 24 years old and time was running out for her. The Princess became sick with worry; her parents didn’t know what else to do.  So her parents decided to send her away to live in a cave so nobody could ever see her again. Although she lived in the cave she was free to come and go as she chose. She wasn’t being held a prisoner she was just living far away from her kingdom. She enjoyed spending her days walking through the enchanted forest nearby.

One day while she was picking berries in the enchanted forest and singing as she was surrounded by all the forest animals. A prince was riding nearby, and heard the most amazing voice and followed it and suddenly appeared in front of her, he was on white horse and came to a stop and sat there just staring at her.  He then introduced himself and said his name was Prince Michael. They started talking and it was like love at first sight.  Princess Deondra didn’t want to waste his time so she told the Prince about the evil curse that made her turn into a troll by night. Expecting him to run away, she was surprised that he did not run, and she wondered why!

He had not run because he was so enchanted by her voice and her beauty.  This prince was very handsome, with curly brown locks of hair and big beautiful blue eyes. His skin was as soft as a feather and the color of ivory. He had a charming smile that made her heart flutter every time she looked at him. The prince stayed and wanted to get to know her. Their relationship blossomed like the flowers in the spring time.

Soon they fell in love and the prince was eager to marry her. So, they went back to the kingdom to tell her parents and to plan the wedding. But when they got there all they found was a raggedy old house. Where had the castle gone? Where were her parents? They asked the gate keeper, and the gate keeper told them that her parents had been killed by the evil witch and she had torn down the castle and built the raggedy old house for her to live in and rule the kingdom. That was awful! What were they supposed to do! So they went back to the cave to think of a plan to stop the evil witch; who was an ugly creature with long black stringy hair and green eyes that almost glowed in the dark. Her skin was wrinkled and her nose was as long and curved as a pickle and she wore a black dress with holes in it.

They needed to find out what made the witch weak and stop her so the princess could reclaim her land. So they returned to the kingdom and snuck into the raggedy old house and were searching around for clues. When they came across a book of spells and looked through it. That’s when they found the perfect spell. It was a spell to turn the witch into a mouse. Close to the book of spells they found a magic wand. The princess was able to use the magic wand and cast the spell because she had practiced magic as a child. Then when the witch wasn’t looking the princess turned the witch into a mouse and put her into a cage so she could not get out and that is where she remained. The prince and the princess tore down the raggedy old house and rebuilt the most beautiful castle anyone had ever seen. They had a big beautiful wedding and regained their place as ruler of the kingdom. Because neither of them had the heart to kill the witch she remained as a mouse in the cage. They thought they would live happily ever after, but they were wrong; slowly over time the witch regained her powers and was able to free herself from the spell and escaped by conjuring up a reversal spell which she used to turn herself back into a witch.

The prince and the princess were very scared. They didn’t know what they were going to do! The witch had gotten free and would able to put them both under a spell if they did not catch her. So they hired a team of the best men to search and find the witch so that they could put her back under the spell. The team of men didn’t have to search very far. They found the witch lurking just outside the castle walls. The witch was captured and beaten and put back under the spell, when she became a mouse again the royal cat was let loose and chased the witch all over the castle playing with her.  The prince and the princess were free again.

But this was not your ordinary cat. It was a polydactyl calico meaning it had seven toes on its front feet and six toes on its back feet. It was white with the most beautiful black and tan markings that anyone had ever seen. This calico cat could climb walls and walk on its hind legs. So, no matter where the witch tried to hide the cat would always find her. Finally the cat got tired of playing with the witch and killed the witch and ate her. But before the cat ate the witch she was able to regain enough of her powers to cast a spell on the cat that would slowly turned it into a fire breathing dragon. The cat became a dragon which was as large as a house and had green and red scales from head to toe. It had black eyes and fire that erupted from his nostrils as long as a mile.

The dragon attacked the castle and burned it to the ground and the prince and the princess had to go on a journey to find a rare fruit to make a potion so that the witch’s spell could be broken and the dragon would be turned back into the cat. They searched high and low, day in and day out, for this rare fruit, until finally they stumbled across it in a land far from their home. They hurriedly made the potion and started their journey back home to feed the potion to the dragon. They mixed the potion with the dragon’s favorite food, dragon biscuit pie, and fed the dragon the pie and the spell was broken. So the dragon was turned back into a cat.  Once again the prince had the castle rebuilt and he built a special room for the cat to live in and they all lived happily ever after. Or did they?
